A3 Case - Increase of the Ethanol Expedition Capacity in a Sugar and Ethanol Plant

Abstract


Companies in the sugar and ethanol sector have recognized the need to become more competitive and have sought to invest in Lean principles and philosophy in order to obtain improvements in the results of their production processes.

In this case study, a sugarcane plant located in the northwest of the state of São Paulo was analyzed, and several activities that resulted in the low efficiency in the ethanol shipment were added, adding no value to the service / final product. Among the several bottlenecks raised in the product expedition, stand out: the waiting time in the patio; the loading and unloading time of the documentation.
